German magazine Capital is reporting that talks between Apple and Volkswagen are in an early stage for a so-called "iCar".
According to a Volkswagen company spokesperson, the two company heads held talks a few days ago in California on more heavily incorporating Apple products in Volkswagen's compact cars.
Apple already has a dedicated page for the integration of its iPod products into automobiles. Recently, Apple has worked with BMW for iPhone integration in 7-series models.

In terms of exterior dimensions, Volkswagen's all-wheel-drive Concept A is similar in size to the Kia Sportage compact sport utility vehicle, but the Concept A is much sleeker in appearance due to its dramatically sloped roofline. Volkswagen claims the Concept A blends sports car and SUV styling, and that the front-end design previews what the face of a small Volkswagen SUV might look like.
That front end carries the plunging, V-shaped grille seen on recently redesigned Volkswagens like the Jetta and Passat. Volkswagen seems to think the face...

Last year, Volkswagen unveiled some very cool variants of their Jetta, Passat and Touareg with a simple R badge. The new GTI wasn't available in the U.S. at the time. This year, however, the GTI made the trip to Vegas and in fact is the main attraction at VW's display.
The VW R GTI is a one-off produced by Chief Designer Derek Jenkins and his Volkswagen Design Center California crew. Add on a more powerful turbocharger to the stock car and somehow VW and partner APR wrangle 375 hp out of the hot hatchback. There are much larger tires and...

Volkswagen has decided to unveil its new Iroc Concept after a couple of photos of the conceptual hatchback leaked into the Net. As you can see in the photos Volkswagen has chosen not to pursue a retro styled Scirocco endeavor and instead went with a clean sheet of paper and a brief to make sure the vehicle would be a useful 2+2. The photos hide the true dimensions of this vehicle - compared to the current GTI the IROC is a full 4 inches longer in the wheelbase, 1.6 inches wider in track, a full 3.3 inches lower in overall height and 1.6 inches...

The Audi R8 uses the mid-engine Lamborghini Gallardo platform, and will sell for around $100,000. Sales will begin in the first half of 2007 for the United States and Europe.
Originally introduced as the Le Mans concept at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi announced plans to build a production version last year. It wasn't too much of a surprise as the concept used numerous off-the-shelf parts and Audi has been itching to build an exotic sports car for years.

Bugatti could be driven out of business if the supercar manufacturer is forced to comply with new US airbag rules which come into force next month, the French subsidiary of Volkswagen has told safety regulators.
Bugatti told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a letter last month that it would face "substantial economic hardship" from the new rules, which would require it to redesign its only model, the 1,001 horsepower €1m ($1.28m) Veyron. The cost would push up the price of the car 10 per cent and have a "catastrophic"...

Audi's goal is to become every bit as racy and blue-blooded as its German competitors, and the company is about to take a big step forward in that pursuit.
The R8 is expected to have the same 425 horsepower V8 engine as the Audi RS4, but weight just 3500 lbs, compared to the RS4’s 4200 lbs. Those figures should be good for a 0-60 mph time in the low-4.0 second range. It is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. Everything from the aluminum space frame to the all-wheel-drive system is from the Lamborghini (Audi owns Lambo).

German premium carmaker BMW intends to start selling diesel-powered cars in the United States within two years, using a urea-based additive to meet emissions standards, the Financial Times newspaper reported on Wednesday.
"Urea will take another two years but then diesel is really clean and can be sold in all 50 states," the paper quoted BMW sales and marketing head Michael Ganal as saying at the British Internatonal Motor Show.
"The U.S. is more open to diesel than two or three years ago."
Other carmakers, including DaimlerChrysler...
