Tesla Motors, the high-profile Silicon Valley electric car company, announced it has appointed Ze’ev Drori, an experienced entrepreneur and car enthusiast, as its new chief executive officer.
This completes an arduous search process that spanned several months. Drori replaces interim CEO Michael Marks, who took the helm in August. The shuffle comes after the company announced a couple of delays to its first car’s release.

Tesla Motors’ electric Roadster won’t meet its vaunted range target of 250 miles. The company sent a letter to nearly 400 of its first batch of customers admitting that after testing on an EPA-compliant dyno, that it has had to revise its mileage estimates downward for its Lotus Elise-based sports car, though they still expect over 200 miles to a charge.

The Tesla Roadster is an all-electric powered sports car from California based automaker Tesla.
The attractive little roadster is reminiscent of the Lotus Elise, and so it should be since the body design of the Tesla Roadster was formed by a collaborative effort between Tesla and Barney Hatt, Principal Designer at the Lotus Design Studio in England.

The supra geniuses over at Sili Valley's Tesla motors have been unquick to admit their hot new EV is really a Lotus Elise in drag. The Tesla is so Elise on the inside it hurts, from the dash binnacle to the air vents to the steering wheel -- right down to the parking brake handle...

Tesla Motors has already booked deposits for its first 100 cars, according to Martin Eberhard, Tesla's CEO. The $100,000 deposits guarantee that the buyers will get the cars, which will come out next year.
"All 100 are gone," he said.
The company unveiled its Tesla Roadster on July 19 in a glitzy event in Santa Monica. At the time, around 37 people had already plunked down deposits. The Tesla Roadster is the first automobile to be produced by electric car firm Tesla Motors. The car was officially unveiled on July 20, 2006. Tesla claims prototypes have been able to accelerate from 0-60 mph (100 km/h) in about 4 seconds, and reach a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h). Additionally, the car will be able to travel 250 miles (400 km) on a single charge of its batteries.
Pricing for the Tesla Roadster has not been announced, although Tesla CEO Mark Eberhard has speculated that it would "cost between $85,000 and $120,000."
