RENNTECH's 722 tuning package for the Mercedes SLR McLaren supercar has been generating a lot of attention recently, as has RENNTECH's appointment as the American agent for the Mercedes-Benz McLaren 722GT club racer and SLR.Club Trophy USA series.

DaimlerChrysler's Smart USA has begun taking reservations for its Smart ForTwo compact car, which will be available for the first time ever in America in 2008. Reserving the right to buy a Smart hardtop or convertible will costs $99.
The "Pure" entry-level model will start at $12,000. A better-equipped "Passion" model at $14,000 will add a stereo system and other convenience features. The convertible is only available in "Passion" guise, for $17,000.

A day after the official presentation of the second generation Smart Fortwo and they've already released the first promo video of the car.
SMART is also fitting the new fortwo with a "stop & go" system that cuts the engine at red lights much like a hybrid. Safety will be a big priority as well, with each fortwo stocked with front airbargs, ABS and ESP.

Smart will get an American "green card" in early 2008.
Boeblingen-based Smart, part of DaimlerChrysler AG’s Mercedes Car Group, has signed a general distributor agreement with United Auto Group chairman Roger Penske to market the two-seat Smart ForTwo in the United States.

A duplicate version of the Smart fortwo has been produced by the Chinese company CMEC in the city of Suzhou and has already appeared in Hungary and Great Britain. Starting in 2007, it is to be sold for 4,200 euros ($5,250) under the name City Smart.

Watching the latest Autoline Detroit, Dave Schembri president of smart USA has given a few details about what to expect.
First off the mystery of the three models has been resolved: there will be a base model, a well equipped coupe and the cabriolet version.
The other tidbit was that it appears that the reveal for the next generation smart will be in Stuttgart with full details available mid November.

This is the coolest car I've ever seen. It's tiny. I'm standing next to it in one of these pictures.
By the way, I checked out their website, there's absolutely no information on this car. Maybe someone can tell me more about this awesome car... and how much is it ?

Visitors to the British auto show will get a close-up of the future of motoring on the Smart stand where the battery-powered ForTwo EV will be displayed.
Its electric drivetrain was developed by British specialist Zytek, providing nearly the same performance as a petrol Smart (30kW vs 37kW) but with zero emissions and at a running cost in Britain of €0.02 (R0.18)/km instead of €0.06 (R0.54)/km.
