Sixteen-point-two inches.

At 16.2", RENNTECH's new front rotors are more than two inches larger than a Domino's Brooklyn-style pizza, and more than three inches larger than the stock rotors on Mercedes' 382 hp SL550 roadster.

Founded in 1989 by ex-AMG technical director Hartmut Feyhl, South-Florida tuning firm RENNTECH built its reputation on a solid foundation of expert engine-building and superb braking systems that turned 100-0 mph panic stops into predictable, fade-free non-events.

"As soon as we start building significant...

A new version of the Mercedes-McLaren has been developed by British motorsports company RML Group for a handful of privateer teams who hope to compete in a new club racing series. The car was solely designed for the track and has no approval for on-road use but that hasn’t stopped 21 individuals paying the estimated €1 million price tag for the privilege of owning one of the hottest race cars on the planet.

The FIA has launched an investigation into incidents involving the McLaren Mercedes team for a possible breach of the rules in Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix.

McLaren denied using team orders, which have been banned since 2002, but said they had employed team strategy.

The FIA is investigating a possible breach of the international sporting code.

The code states it will punish "any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally."

But a McLaren spokesman...

McLaren and Mercedes-Benz have reportedly completed R&D on their new McLaren Mercedes SLR convertible. The car may be officially presented to the public within the next six months.

The new model will closely resemble the Mercedes-Benz Vision SLR concept (pictured), which debuted at the 1999 Frankfurt Motor Show, nine months after the coupe prototype was unveiled at the Detroit auto show.

The new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition that has been developed in close alliance with the British Formula 1 specialists McLaren is brimming with thoroughbred racing credentials.

For Mercedes-Benz, the name was an obvious choice for the new model variant which evokes memories of the unforgettable victory achieved in 1955 by the British motor-racing legend Stirling Moss and his co-pilot Dennis Jenkinson at Mille Miglia – the classic Italian endurance race – behind the wheel of a Mercedes Benz 300 SLR with start number 722 (denoting...

Mercedes and McLaren are planning to sell as many as 2000 "SLS" sports cars a year to rival the likes of the Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo and the V10 version of Audi's R8, according to the insiders at Brenda Priddy & Company. Although McLaren engineers are remaining tight-lipped about the project, sources say feasibility studies are currently being carried out on the car at one of Mercedes’ secret test centers in Germany.

Sources suggest a carbon-fiber body construction, mid-engine setup and three-seat layout (like the erstwhile F1)...

Ron Dennis had a meeting with some of the British F1 media last week and discussed a little about whether or not the team will be sold to Mercedes-Benz. For some time there have been rumours that a deal was done last summer and our sources are absolutely certain that a sale is taking place and that it will be announced when various accounting deadlines have been passed so that the purchase will not raise any eyebrows in the investing world.

At the moment Ron Dennis and Mansour Ojjeh hold 30% of the team each, although this is pooled with an...

These pictures procured by World Car Fans prove that early development work is well under way on the 'baby'.

McLaren is hoping to use carbonfibre construction for the new car, although there are doubts about the economic viability of using the material for a car with a projected price tag of about 150,000 Euros.

And it’s already certain that the car will have to be built by Mercedes, as McLaren's new Woking factory is tied up producing the SLR.

Sources couldn't be budged on whether the new car, thought to be code-named P8, will have...

Here you have a sneak peek at what the 2008 Veyron Roadster might look like. As much as its metal-roofed counterpart is the fastest coupé on earth, the 1001-bhp cabrio would be the fastest cabrio on the planet. Wolfsburg hasn’t decided yet whether or not to build the car. So don’t get out your cheque book yet...

You might think that Mercedes wouldn’t have a need for developing yet another supercar, but you’d be wrong: With the 612-bhp SL65 AMG on the one hand and the 626-bhp SLR on the other, there’s hardly any room for a car in...
