Tango to return if Seat has the cash
Seat will produce a road-going version of the Tango concept car (if commercially viable).
Chief designer Luc Donkervolke has said that he wants Seat to become a 'design-driven brand'. A production version of the Tango would certainly help achieve that aim.
The sleek Tango roadster first appeared as a concept five years ago. However, while many of its styling cues have been worked into existing models, the Tango was never made.
Now sources inside Seat say that the Tango could be engineered - if supported by other models. The roadster would need to use a version of the next-generation Ibiza platform. With front-wheel drive and supermini underpinnings, the Tango would have similarities with Ford's Streetka cabrio. It would most likely sell for around £15,000.
