Mazda Taiki Concept Car
Mazda will be displaying this wild looking Taiki concept at the Tokyo Auto Show later this month. Under the skin is reportedly the next-generation rotary engine. The new RENESIS rotary engine dubbed the 16X, a twin rotor unit sending drive to the rear wheels. It that features a longer stroke and a larger displacement 1.6L (800cc x 2) design. The new design is said to raise the thermal efficiency and torque levels at all engine speeds and, with a new direct injection system and lightweight aluminum side housing, will also reduce fuel consumption.
Most people, however, will be talking about the exterior styling. Mazda says it's a continuation of organic design themes explored in earlier concept such as the Nagare, Ryuga and Hakaze concept vehicles.
