Hummer's H3 Open-Top Concept
Hummer is giving the H3 a little more safari chic at the 2007 Detroit auto show with the Open Top. By fitting the H3 with ASC's sliding-fabric, InfiniVu roof system, the H3 has a 'nostalgic' feel, according to GM, apparently reminiscent of cloth-top convertible utes of the past, but with good weather resistance and ease of operation. The InfiniVu roof is made of fabric panels that fold, accordian-like, while the top can be stopped and positioned at any point along the entire roof, rather than just fully open or closed.
The safari theme is further accented inside by custom Townsend lambskin leather upholstery with Gatsby Green accents - though joined of course by GM's OnStar Turn-by-Turn navigation and rear-seat DVD entertainment.
While GM may wish to recall the past with the idea of an open top, much of the appearance is a bow to modern trends, with flashy, sparkling Silver Spectra Flair tri-coat paint and blackout wheel wells helping to emphasize the big 20" x 9" Rozzi EGO chrome wheels with huge Mickey Thompson Baja Claw off-road tires.
