After Tesla CEO Ze'ev Drori announced Telsa's plans to build the Model S, Elon Musk began discussing its development of electric car tech to get the price of future cars to (and below) $30,000. When asked when that technology would be commercially available, Musk said that it shouldn't be any more than four years from now. Granted, a $60,000 car is affordable but still quite steep for most buyers -- but a vehicle mass-produced at half the price is essentially mainstream, which could have a substantial impact on the automotive world.

For some Ferrari faithful, every prancing mare that comes out of the factory should be painted in red. Yellow, black, down and grey are just evident profane, and perhaps that’s why some of the purest Ferraris, the F40 and 288 GTO, were only presented in red. Well, if something but Rosso Corsa bothers you, then this particular Ferrari will give you the shivers. This uber-bling wonder takes advantage of the 599GTB's aluminum body and simply classes up the joint, with thousands of hours of polishing and buffing.

Imagine a Toyota Prius, but faster, cleaner and greener. Such a car is coming soon and will launch at the Detroit auto show in January 2009.

America has fallen for the Prius in a big way, no doubt about that. Five years on, through an extraordinary combination of style, engineering and marketing, Toyota's fuel sipping hybrid remains the absolute gold standard for eco cars in the industry.

The next generation, however, has all the makings of an even bigger hit. That's because it will be a touch bigger so offering more space. It will come...

Sixteen-point-two inches.

At 16.2", RENNTECH's new front rotors are more than two inches larger than a Domino's Brooklyn-style pizza, and more than three inches larger than the stock rotors on Mercedes' 382 hp SL550 roadster.

Founded in 1989 by ex-AMG technical director Hartmut Feyhl, South-Florida tuning firm RENNTECH built its reputation on a solid foundation of expert engine-building and superb braking systems that turned 100-0 mph panic stops into predictable, fade-free non-events.

"As soon as we start building significant...

Peugeot has announced that it will produce the RC-Z coupé that made its debut in concept form at Frankfurt in 2007.

You can expect to see the full production model for the first time at the 2009 Frankfurt show, before sales begin in spring 2010.

Deciding to create the RC-Z is a significant step for the French marque. It will represent a move away from the current design philosophy associated with its coupés and roadsters, and signal a move towards a new era of appealing driver’s cars and higher quality products.

Dealerships using new technology to prevent missed payments

Tags: On Time + Sekurus

Valmort
Posted by Valmort 3 months 24 days ago; via leftlanenews.com/dealersh...

In order to prevent defaults on car loans, many dealerships are turning to a new device called On Time. The small electronic box — which is mandatory is some car deals — is installed under the dash of the car and helps to ensure that car payments are made on time. As the payment date approaches, the box flashes its lights, and on the date the payment is due, emits a beep.

If the buyer fails to make the payment, the device prevents the car from starting. But if the buyer makes the payment on time, they are given a six-digit code to enter...
